12 infectious diseases hospitals are being built in case of second wave of COVID-19 in Kazakhstan

In Kazakhstan, preparations are underway for a possible wave of the coronavirus pandemic, within which 12 new infectious diseases hospitals are being built. This was announced by the First Vice Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Shoranov at a press conference in the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazpravda.kz reports.

"Currently, regional akimats have begun an active phase of construction of 12 modular infectious diseases hospitals and reconstruction of another hospital. Commissioning is expected in October this year. This work is being carried out in preparation for a possible second wave of the pandemic. These measures will help provide timely and high-quality care to the population of the country", - said Shoranov.

According to him, additional 2,700 infectious beds provided with modern equipment will be arranged.

Funding is provided at the expense of the Employment Roadmap program and local budgets.
