The need for investments to implement PPP projects in the health sector until 2025 is more than 1.3 trillion tenge, said the Healthcare Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yelzhan Birtanov at a meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazpravda.kz reports.

"According to the long-term plans for the development of health infrastructure, approved by regional administrations, the need for investment is over 1.3 trillion tenge until 2025. For the implementation of projects for construction of outpatient and stationary facilities, it is proposed to use the "service PPP" model with payment of the tariff for medical services, as well as contracts with reimbursement of investments in case of transfer of the object to state ownership," said Birtanov.

He noted that currently the leading positions in the amount of attracted investments within the framework of the concluded contracts are taken by the authorities of Shymkent, Nur-Sultan, Aktobe and Pavlodar regions.

"Over the past three years, the regions have concluded 111 PPP contracts in the health sector for a total amount of 52 billion tenge. At the stage of the tender procedures, there are still 93 projects, at the development stage - 83 projects. The regions mainly implement projects for the construction and operation of outpatient polyclinic facilities, as well as projects on provision with medical equipment", - said Birtanov.

According to him, for projects that are not able to generate a sufficient amount of funds, it is necessary to attract funding from the local budget.
