More than 47 billion tenge has been budgeted in 2019 for the treatment of tuberculosis in Kazakhstan, Kazpravda.kz correspondent quotes Gulziya Taipova, senior manager of the department for work with the population of the Social Health Insurance Fund, at an event in Astana timed to World TB Day.

"Tuberculosis is treated within the framework of guaranteed free medical care. Financing of medical organizations comes at the expense of the republican budget through the Social Health Insurance Fund. In 2018 the size of funding for TB treatment in the country was 44.7 billion tenge, whereas in 2019 it is over 47 billion tenge. For each patient in each region there is own complex tariff and plus reimbursed cost of anti-tuberculosis drugs, "she informed.

Taipova noted that according to official statistics, in 2018 over 35 000 people with tuberculosis under regular medical check-up were recorded.

"Of these, with the active form - 14,874 patients. Also, 8,942 patients were diagnosed for the first time. The highest incidence is observed in Shymkent and Turkestan region - more than 3,500 cases, in Almaty region - 3,311 cases, in East Kazakhstan region - 2 860, in Kyzylorda region - 2 495 ", - she cited statistic.

March 24 is the World Tuberculosis Day. In 2019, the campaign against tuberculosis is held under the motto "Find. Treat. All. #EndTB". According to WHO, between 2000 and 2016, 53 million human lives were saved through the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis in the world.
