Director of the Health Ministry’s public health policy department Aizhan Yesmagambetova said that in Kazakhstan health sector 2,406 jobs remain untaken, Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports.
"The shortage of medical human resources in the regions is 2,406: 1,790 of them in the cities and 616, i.e. 26 % - in villages .The highest deficit both in the city and in the countryside is observed in Mangistau, Kostanay, North -Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda oblasts, "said Yesmagambetova, noting that 278 medical positions are vacant in Astana.
She attributed such a situation in the country to the quality of social support for young professionals.
Citing statistics, she said that only 30 percent of young professionals are provided with conditions, motivating them to stay in the job. The leaders in social packages for medical workers are Akmola and Atyrau oblasts, specifically in terms of providing accommodation.
As of February 2017, over 230,000 medical professionals work in Kazakhstan, including about 70,000 physicians and over 160,000 paramedics. The indicator of the availability of doctors in the republic exceeds that of the EU and the CIS.
Measures are taken to provide the regions with medical personnel and employ the medical universities’ graduates. The regions’, Astana and Almaty administrations concluded Memoranda for 2016-2018 on the achievement of indicators in the healthcare sector, incl. to reduce the medical staff shortage. Roadmap for distribution and placement of the medical universities’ graduates is annually made, on which, a personified monitoring is carried out of the young specialists’ recruitment and staying in the job.
