In Kazakhstan, small compact outpatient stations will be placed on the first floors of residential and office premises. Their number will be increased to 1531, Minister of Health Yelzhan Birtanov said in an interview to Kazpravda.kz.

"Additional 1,531 stations are planned to be opened. Work is also underway to make changes to regional infrastructure development plans for creating small outpatient compact centers. They will be as close as possible to the attached population’s residence address, including those located on the first floors of residential and office premises," the Minister added.

Many projects on the development of primary healthcare were launched in the country, he noted. Funding for outpatient services was increased from 37 to 43%.

Also, according to the Health Ministry, the number of general practitioners has grown: 6 times over 10 years (from 836 to 6,205). In addition, the burden on district doctors was significantly eased by reducing the number of people attached to them from 2,200 to 1,950 people per neighborhood doctor.

Birtanov said that in the implementation of the Presidential Address, this figure may be reduced to 1,700.
