In Kazakhstan, it is planned to spend 92.2 thousand tenge for provision of medical care to each Kazakhstani in 2020. This was stated by the First Deputy Prime Minister - Finance Minister Alikhan Smailov at a Government meeting, Kazpravda.kz reports.

"A state program of healthcare development until 2025 will be developed, providing for new medical service formats, reducing staff shortages, expanding the availability of medical care. As a result, the burden on the general practitioner will drop to 1,700, which will bring us closer to OECD standards," the minister said.

Smailov noted that in the next three years, primary health care facilities will be equipped with 11 thousand units of medical equipment, new 595 primary health care facilities have been opened, and 228 facilities have been overhauled.

"Control over the quality of medicines will be tightened; measures will be taken to stimulate a decrease in wholesale and retail prices. With the introduction of Compulsory Social Health Insurance, the cost of medical care per resident in 2020 will increase to 92.2 thousand tenge," the speaker concluded.
