During his working visit to Almaty region, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with medical professionals of the region to discuss steps to meet the targets of the President’s state-of-the-nation Address "Promoting Wellbeing of Kazakhstanis: Improving Incomes and Quality of Life," reports with reference to the RK PM’s press service.

The meeting addressed the issues of improving the quality and availability of medical services, increasing the salaries of doctors and nurses, developing human capital through creating conditions for a healthy lifestyle, digitalization and deregulation of the health sector.

Prime Minister referred to the six key tasks for the Government to be implemented in the short term that are outlined in the Address. The main goal of the new Address is to improve the population’s quality of life.

Sagintayev also focused on the instructions to increase the availability and quality of primary healthcare, especially in rural districts. At the international conference held on the eve of this meeting in Astana, representatives of the member countries of the World Health Organization and other international associations discussed the main directions of further development of primary healthcare.

The region’s governor, Amandyk Batalov, reported that the region had begun implementing the President’s instructions concerning improvement of the quality of medicine. For digitalization end, funds are allocated from the local budget for inventory, certification, and equipping of the health facilities with new equipment, and physicians’ salaries are rising. The main result of all these measures is a significant reduction in maternal, infant, child mortality, mortality from cardiovascular diseases, and tuberculosis.

Summing up the meeting, the Prime Minister noted that in order to improve the quality of medicine it is also necessary to develop the private sector. In particular, there is a need to mitigate the requirements for private medical organizations, as well as the development of social economy through the placement of government orders in private clinics.
