A vaccine production plant is under construction in Kazakhstan. This was announced by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aleksey Tsoi at a briefing in the CCS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazpravda.kz reports.

"I have already said that preclinical trials have been successful, there are good results. The first and second phases of clinical trials have now been launched. Volunteers have already been recruited. Vaccinations are underway," Tsoi said.

He noted that 44 volunteers expressed a desire to take part in the tests. According to the minister, after these tests, it will be possible to talk about the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine.

In addition, the minister noted that Kazakhstani domestic plant for production of vaccines is being built.

"Its capacity is sufficient to cover the needs of the republic and, in case of development of its own vaccine, successful completion of all clinical trials, safety and quality checks this vaccine will be produced in Kazakhstan. And the existing plant will cover all needs," the speaker added.

The journalists asked the minister how much the Kazakhstani vaccine could cost for the citizens of the country.

"Currently these figures are not known until the completion of clinical trials. But, this vaccine will be inexpensive. I mean its cost will be about 2-3 dollars," the Minister of Health said.
