Registration of prices for medicines and medical equipment is a procedure that is performed in many countries to manage the cost of products in the medical field and control their availability.
State regulation of prices for medicines can be divided into two main categories.
The first category is regulation of prices for drugs that are subject to wholesale and retail sale. Here, the state can set maximum prices for drugs in order to prevent price gouging and ensure the availability of drugs for the population. Such measures may include establishing maximum markups for wholesalers and retailers, controlling prices for imported drugs, etc.
The second category is the regulation of prices for drugs intended for the provision of state compulsory free medical care (GBMP) and compulsory social health insurance (OSHI). Here the state can set prices for drugs, which will be compensated from the budget or insurance funds. Such measures are aimed at ensuring the availability of medicines for patients, especially those who need long-term treatment or expensive drugs.
Both types of drug price regulation are aimed at ensuring accessibility and moderation of drug prices for the population.
